I’m sitting at a Starbucks in Talahassee visiting with my friend Eric (EricBeasley.net) who I haven’t seen in a while. He’s going to FSU, but we used to work together when he was home for the summer a year ago. He also was on More Meat Then Tuna as a regular host when we were producing the show.
As you can see from the picture I am exhausted. It’s been a lot of driving so far, and I have a good 5-6 hours ahead of me to make it to New Orleans. The best way to keep up with my constant updates is via Twitter (Twitter.com/NickStarr) or you can text “Follow NickStarr” to 40404 (without the quotes).
Well my friend just arrived, so I am going to hang out with him for a while then head back on the road. Until later…buh bye.

I posted this over at BGR, but the offer is good to readers of my site as well. I’ve got 1,000 Joost invites and all you have to do is leave a comment with your email address, and I will send it out to you.Check out the BGR post for more info about Joost, but don’t forget to leave a comment so you can get the invite.
Update: If your invite slipped through the cracks (sorry), or you still want one, you can sign up yourself through an offering from GigaOm, NewTeeVee, and Joost are offering free invites. There is a limited supply of 20,000, so make sure to get signed up quickly before they are all gone.

Yeah I know it’s not called the iTV anymore, but I can’t find the apple symbol on my Vista machine, so deal with it. Apple’s first iTV commercial is officially up on the Apple site. It features John Krasinski who plays Jim Halpert on “The Office” as the voice over. I played with one in the Apple store last week, and really enjoyed it. The iTV was extremely hot (like physically hot to the touch). Check out the ad in HD, or above from YouTube.

As of today, Apple is shipping the long awaited Apple TV. Most shipments are coming from FedEx, and you should have a tracking number if you check on the status of your order. These are scheduled to be arriving in Apple Stores across the nation very soon. Personally, I haven’t purchased one yet, but that isn’t to say I don’t want it.

During the 79th Oscars last night, the first iPhone ad was aired to a nationwide audience. It in my opinion wasn’t the best ad Apple has ever produced, but it was appropriate for the time/place it was aired.
It features movie characters over the ages answering the phone with the word “Hello.” It’s remisiant of the launch of the Macintosh in 1984.
Apple has posted the ad in HD on it’s site.

TiVo has announced a partnership with Amazon’s Unbox service to deliver movies direct to your TiVo set. Not all TiVo units will work (Comcast, DirecTV, or Series 1 models), but when the service switches live, all the other boxes will work. I still have a TiVo Series 1 & 2 in storage, simply because I don’t use them, but this might be a reason to pull the Series 2 out of storage.
Not all of Amazon’s Unbox movies will be available either. Sony and Disney are the holdouts. There will be limitations to how many devices you can have the movies on, as well as mac computers being incompatable, but this is a huge step for TiVo. There have been rumors that TiVo would offer this sort of service with nearly every distribution company out there, from Netflix to Apple.
This certainly takes a bite out of Apple’s new Apple TV, which allows viewing of anything in your iTunes directory, but doesn’t allow for downloading from your tv. You have to go over to your computer to purchase a movie/tv show from iTunes still.

Walmart today launched an online movie download site. They have deals with ALL six major movie studios, so the library has a lot of room for growth (only 3,000 titles on launch).

In the “Wal-Mart” fashion they undercut everyone on price by mere pennies
. New releases start at $12.88 - $19.88. TV shows are only a 4 cent savings over other services at $1.96.
I don’t think that online people care that a tv episode cost 4 cents less, or that they just saved 20 cents on a movie down. It’s Wal-Mart, they have the whole retail thing down, but online they just don’t cut it. People go for the cool, hip trendy companies online, and I’ve never heard anyone say Wal-Mart is cool.
Check it out today
