Podcast Action Figures?

Nick Starr | November 17, 2005

action figure

Former MTV video jockey and “father” of Podcasting, Adam Curry is poised to release a line of action figures based on the many of the hosts of today’s hot phenomenon called Podcasting.

Other characters such as the “Dawn and Drew” figures have props that go along with the figures, such as a replica of the farmhouse they broadcast from with real working farm animals. There’s even a small computer inside the farmhouse that they would use to record the shows in real life.

WTF? This is just strange.

Back at TIA

Nick Starr | November 11, 2005

Well I’m back at the airport. Went out with Steph last night to iMall (which is about 1 minute from the airport). We at dinner there and she took me to my vehicle and I headed home for a nice 2 hours of sleep.

I’m at the airport now…the wifi (or as Steph calls it Whiffy) seems faster here now. They are already boarding so this will be quick. I saw a new Starbucks water bottle and had to buy it…it looks like the Voss water bottles…pics to come later.

So next stop Houston, Tx….which I haven’t had good experiences with. My last flight thru there I was one gate over and they had already closed the door by the time I got off the plane. I was going to Portland, OREGON. I ended up going to Detroit, Michigan….to Portland, MAINE …they messed it up REALLY badly, then to Seatle, Washington…finally Portland, Oregon. It was the longest day ever. Fortunatetly there was young girl who got stuck with me and ended up taking the same adventure I did.

Well I’m out of here…glad to be finally on my way. Until Houston (if they have some whiffy)…buh bye!

Starbucks “Fair Trade” Challenge

Nick Starr | October 26, 2005

Now I am an avid Starbucks person even though I HATE the taste of coffee, and all of coffee drinks. (I like the branding).
starbucks
So on Lifehacker I see this thing about a Starbucks Challenge. What is this?

Well I goto my local Starbucks store on 4th st and 9th ave N in Saint Petersburg, Fl . I ask, “Could I get a cup of fair trade coffee?”

They say they are not currently brewing it, but they would be more than happy to french press it for me. Now this took about 10 minutes to get my coffee, but I find out that I am helping coffee growers sell their coffee at a fair rate so that competition is on a more level playing field. Well that is what the barista said.

That’s kind of cool. Granted I don’t drink coffee, but I paid for my cup and disposed of it on the way out. I don’t see much wrong with leveling the playing field so the the smaller growers have chance against the big guys.

Green LA Girl wants you to go into your local Starbucks and ask for this and then post your results on your blog and del.icio.us bookmark it with the Starbucks location in the “extended” description, and the tag starbuckschallenge. There is a contest that she is doing with everyone’s resutls for some free coffee.

Pretty nifty.

Birthday idea: OneStock.com

Nick Starr | August 12, 2005

aaplMan I saw this and think it is pretty cool…so if you need an idea for a gift for me check this out. It is called OneShare.com and you can buy one share of a corporate stock. My obvious choices would be Apple or Starbucks.

The concept is pretty cool, and perfect for hanging on a wall. A bit pricey on their frames, but they look to be of good quality.
