Most of the time this happens, there is something new launched. With Think Secret reporting on some rumors of this happening yesterday, I tend to think this is more then a system update for the store. More as this develops.
You heard it first here, yesterday, when I ranted about how ridiculous the free 18 months of service with an iPhone was. I was speaking to my friend yesterday and said this:
Eric: http://www.engadget.com/2007
/01/25/atandt-to-give-away-1-5 -years-of-service-to-iphone -buyers/ me: yeah i know
that will certainly be disproved tomorrow
Looks like I was right. Here is what a Cingular rep said today:
The report is nonsense. We’ve always said the only way you can get the iPhone is with a Cingular rate plan.
This is why I rarely post Apple rumors on the site here. I tend to like the write the facts of the matter, not simply speculation, which has over time proven itself wrong time after time.
OMG!!!! I am literally driven into a mad rage chatting with a friend right now about this most recent Apple rumor, that AT&T will give 18 months of free cell service with the purchase of an iPhone.
ARE YOU SERIOUS??? IT IS A 2 YEAR CONTRACT!!! How would they make any money off of you?

This rumor started from some stock spinster, Jim Cramer, and has blown up all over the internets today.
I really honestly believe that there is this Reality Distortion Field when it comes to anything Apple. YES, I am an Apple fan boy, but I don’t go and blow my load over every single rumor that hits my RSS reader. When something seems too good to be true, IT ISN’T!
Just in time for Valentines Day, the Blackberry 8800 is rumored to launch for the Barcelona’s 3GSM Conference & Expo on February 12th.
This will be the last phone I purchase before making the switch to Cingular for the iPhone (or my first phone that I purchase on Cingular). I really prefer the QWERTY version of the Blackberry, yet enjoy the size of the Pearl. This new version incorporates the best of the two.
This is just a rumor, but I certainly hope it’s true. It’s about time for Blackberry to release this updated phone.
From the comments over at TechEBlog, this is pretty much been determined to be fake, but this is what an Apple phone should look like. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat.
