I’ve got 1,000 Joost invites and all you have to do is leave a comment with your email address, and I will send it out to you.Check out the BGR post for more info about Joost, but don’t forget to leave a comment so you can get the invite.

Update: If your invite slipped through the cracks (sorry), or you still want one, you can sign up yourself through an offering from GigaOm, NewTeeVee, and Joost are offering free invites. There is a limited supply of 20,000, so make sure to get signed up quickly before they are all gone.

Get it while it’s still here

Nick Starr | May 5, 2006

I give it what a few days, maybe a week before this site is taken down.

It is a site where there are about 50-75 tv shows where you can watch old episodes. The Sopranos, Scrubs, South Park, Boston Legal, 24, Buffy, and Desperate Housewives are only a few of the shows.

It uses flash to play the video and the quality is pretty good. You can also download the episodes in flash, avi, or mp4 format.

Check it out here.

ABC streaming is live

Nick Starr | May 1, 2006

Looks like ABC is just about the most innovative network out there. They were the first to sign a deal with Apple for downloadable shows on the iPod, and now they are launching full episodes streamed over the internet. These of course are ad supported and there is no way to fast forward thru the ads, but free is free.

You can’t download these shows, they are streaming only. The quality (700×390) is better then what you would get for your $1.99 download on iTunes. The shows are out the following day…last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives is already out for viewing.

Very clearly it shows that this is only a 2 month deal….ABC surely will continue it if the demand is high enough. Each episode is sponsored by a single sponsor. The commercials are 30 seconds in length.

The shows offered are Desperate Housewives, Lost, Alias, and Commander-In-Chief. Make sure you have plenty of bandwidth (850k for full screen), if not it can take a few minutes for the show to load up.

I honestly don’t mind watching a few ads on the web to get to my content. I think that more items will go towards this developing trend. Look at the game Moola, it is all ad based and you can win up to 10 million bucks.

Check it out today.

ABC goes online

Nick Starr | April 10, 2006

ABC has announced that it will offer Desperate Housewives, Commander in Chief, Lost, and Alias online for free. Sure there is going to be ads, but free is free.

There is no word about what this means for ABC and Apple’s deal for $1.99 an episode, but I doubt that these episodes will be able to be put on an iPod.

Find out Chase Squires take on the whole ad based online viewing here.

Apple love Scrubs

Nick Starr | March 30, 2006

Scrubs is one of my favorite shows out there right now, and it’s good to see it on iTunes. There is no Season Pass for it yet, but there is one for the new Season of South Park, which includes the now infamous “Return of Chef!” episode. Season 3 is online as well on iTunes.

Mind of Mencia on iTunes

Nick Starr | March 23, 2006

menciaI’ve really enjoyed and followed Carlos’ style of comedy for a number of years now. He’s edgy, but has a point as well. He’s not just up there to make people laugh, but to also make them think.

I’ve seen him a few times live as well, and it’s a great act. His show Mind of Mencia has brought him even more fame. Well now it’s on iTunes for download. All 13 episodes from Season 1, and 1 episode from Season 2.

No subscription model for this show (yet). Still it’s worth the $1.99 a show. Download them here.
