Cheap as Free: Free Arby’s Fries

16 04 2007

friesI love free things, and why not share the free-ness with others. I even print out multiple copies of coupons when I go somewhere, and hand them out to the other patrons in line.

Today, you can get a free medium curly fry from Arby’s. Apparently every time Matt Kenseth wins a NASCAR race over the weekend, Arby’s (one of his sponsors) gives out free orders of fries. You need to bring in proof (print this out) that he won the race, which seems sort of stupid, but hey it’s free. Why not hit up a few Arby’s today on your lunch break.

2 New Get a Mac ads

12 04 2007

Apple has posted yet another 2 ads in their Get a Mac series, Flashback and Computer Cart.

In Flashback, the PC remembers back to when the two of them were children, the Mac showing off his creative drawings, and the PC using calc.exe to calculate how much time they just wasted.

In Computer Cart, the PC and other pc’s are off to the IT department to have their random DLL and other errors looked at. Mac’s don’t get strange errors like that.

Apple posts iTV ad

11 04 2007

Yeah I know it’s not called the iTV anymore, but I can’t find the apple symbol on my Vista machine, so deal with it. Apple’s first iTV commercial is officially up on the Apple site. It features John Krasinski who plays Jim Halpert on “The Office” as the voice over. I played with one in the Apple store last week, and really enjoyed it. The iTV was extremely hot (like physically hot to the touch). Check out the ad in HD, or above from YouTube.

Dell gives the Axim the Ax

10 04 2007

aximIn we can’t believe this didn’t happen sooner news, Dell has halted production of it’s PDA line, Axim. PDA usage has fallen drastically with the use of Smart Phones on the rise. Maybe Dell can concentrate on improving it’s customer service or something useful with the extra time they will have now that they are no longer making the Axim. Pretty sure that other PDA makers will start to discontinue their PDA lines as well. With the iPhone looming, BlackBerry’s becoming mainstream, and a Treo or Windows Mobile device available from every major US cell carrier out there, the era of the PDA has gone the way of the Do-Do.

9 04 2007

100 million ipods

Today Apple announced they have sold their 100 millionth iPod. The first iPod sold in November of 2001, 5 1/2 years later 100,000,000 have been sold. There have 5.5 generations of the original iPod, 2 generations of the mini, 2 generations of the nano, and 2 generations of the shuffle. Also some special edition iPods like the U2 and Harry Potter iPods have been released. I’ve owned an iPod since the 3G model, and owned every model since. I was saying the other day, I couldn’t imagine having to walk around with cd’s anymore. The iPod simply does it all. Thanks again Steve Jobs! Keep up the great work.

SMS Price Markup: 7314%

6 04 2007

love sms

Anytime you go to purchase something, you instantly know that isn’t the price paid for by the seller. He has to pay the delivery guy, who has to pay for his truck and gas, who has to pay another middle-man, and so on and so forth. When you send a text message, it feels almost like a direct line to the other person. Well we all know it has to go through the mobile carriers, and if they are on a different network, both networks get to charge for the 160 characters traveling through the air. The price for one text message is 15 cents with Verizion to send what works out to 140 bytes of data. Under their wireless data plan 1024 bytes of data work out to only 1.5 cents. Doing a little bit of math, the price increase from a text message to a simple data request is increased 7314%. What makes a SMS more important then data? No wonder people are switching companies every time there is a SMS rate hike.[via Consumerist]
