Today is Festivus, and anyone who is a fan of Seinfeld knows what I am talking about. The funny part is that there is more to this made up holiday that you might not know.
The Boston Globe has a piece about the holiday of Festivus, the holiday-alternative first mentioned on an episode of Seinfeld in 1997. Show writer Daniel O’Keefe’s family celebrated it in his home when he was a kid, and he still celebrates it today. But he’s not the only one. More and more fans of the show are holding Festivus celebrations every year. O’Keefe wrote a book about it, as did Allen Salkin, and the name has become not just a pop culture craze but a real, solid holiday like any other. OK, maybe not like any other, but it’s something that people are really starting to celebrate. (I can sense morons like Bill O’Reilly and John Gibson cringing - Festivus is just another war on Christmas!) (TV Squad)

He started off as an advertiser on the site, but has become a good friend. Mike Talmadge of Thought Out is celebrating his birthday today. Just wanted to say thanks for the great times and many great products like the Ped2, FlexPed, MagStay Pro, and others he’s sent my way over the years.

Hope you have a great one!

I’ve found a few places online that will still allow you to get your items if you do a Saturday delivery, it might be more expensive, but it will be here in time for Christmas.

T-Mobile is offering FREE overnight shipping on all phones until 6:00pm EST today!

MacMall is offering Saturday overnight shipping until 9PM PST today (details)
And there are always gift certificates. If you really love someone a gift card from Apple, Amazon
, or iTunes. These can all be delivered by e-mail, so no paying for overnight mailing.

I decided to get myself a Christmas present today, granted it is after most of the shipping deadlines to arrive before Christmas, but it’s been something I’ve wanted for a while now.
It’s the Western Digital Passport Portable 120gb USB HD. I saw it in this week’s Best Buy ad for $99, and was planning on purchasing, but am glad I waited.
I checked Buy.com since I know they have the deal with $20 off a $50 order if you use Google Checkout. They had the drive for the same price as Best Buy, $99 down from $179. With the Google Checkout discount it came to $79.
I don’t know where you can find a deal like that on an external HD, especially one that looks as sleek as this one. My MBP’s hard drive is 120 gigs, so it will make a perfect 1:1 backup drive. It runs off of USB, so there is no need for a power cord, making this thing is ultra portable.
If you are in need of some extra storage for your laptop, and I doubt this price will last long, check this thing out.

Google is doing a different doodle each day that can be found on it’s main page. Daily it will change to the next version.

View them all here as they are released, or check back daily for the doodle of the day. Last year’s Holiday Doodles can be found here.
Yahoo has an little flash logo that they have updated for the holidays as well. Check out the animated version on Yahoo.com (but I don’t recommend you do anything else there).
