Nike + iPod = Jog-a-thon
24 05 2006Looks as if Nike and Apple’s iPod have teamed up to bring us tools for working out. Currently it seem to only work on the iPod nano.
There are three pieces of equiptment that tie into this partnership, although I only see 2 as necessary to get it to work.
First: An iPod nano

This seems to be the essential piece of equiptment to get it all to start working.
Second: Nike+iPod Sport Kit

This is the second piece of the puzzle. It includes a wireless reciever that is plugged into the iPod and one that goes in/on your shoe. It would seem that you can attach it to any shoe and it would still work, although trying to attach it will spawn some creative ideas I’m sure.
This isn’t out yet, but is expected to be out in about 30 days.
Third: Nike+ Shoes

There are about 16 different styles of these shoes. They all have a compartment in the bottom to put the reciever. The shoes range in price from $85 to $130. The $130 model includes the Nike+iPod kit.
Now these items all work together with iTunes. There are special work out tracks in the iTunes store that help you get “motivated” on your run. After you are finished, you sync up to track your speed/distance and compare with other days.
Seems to be a great solution for people who work out…too bad I got my mom a iPod mini.

Is it ONLY with the iPod Nano, or can I use it with the Video?

“Us” working out?? Who are you kidding? I doubt you’ll get any use out of this.
Very true sir, very true.
[...] With the new Nike+iPod deal coming out soon for the nano only, this is a great deal. [...]
