Life as…

27 04 2006

This blog has become a site where many people come for daily tech news, which I don’t mind because I love talking tech, and it so nice to be able to do so and have other people listen and talk back with me.

In the shuffle, there has been less posts about me and what I’m up to on a daily basis. I used to write a weekend wrapup, and was able to express my thoughts. It just feels awkward writing about my most recent adventures between Apple and Google news….

So, I created a new blog. The layout isn’t finished, but its there and after all content is king. Check it out and subscribe: LifeAs.NickStarr.com

Nintendo Wii

27 04 2006

wii WHAT? The Nintendo Revolution changed it’s name to Nintendo Wii?

This doesn’t make much sense at all. Still with all the back catalog games available to be played, this is the main gaming system I’ve been waiting for.

Casio 10 megapixels

27 04 2006

casio10mp
I bought my Casio 5 megapixel camera back in September of last year, and I’ve really enjoyed using it.

Now they have gone and upgraded the phone from 2.7 to 2.8 inches screen and doubled the megapixels and kept the 3X zoom.

As soon as there is a price for this, I am highly thinking of upgrading. The problem is that I’m sure it will be over $500 for this camera…worth the upgrade?

Google SketchUp

27 04 2006

This one doesn’t make any sense to me….but hell it’s free. It is pretty much a 3D modeling program. What is cool about SketchUp is that once you create your item, you can then place it inside Google Earth.

Check it out today.

St. Pete does WiFi by 2007

26 04 2006

stpetewifiFinally the rumors are true, St. Petersburg, Fl is going to be one of the next cities to offer free WiFi. I doubt it will embody the entire city of St. Pete, but downtown is certainly to be covered. The plans call for a network to be up and running no later than early 2007.

It seems like they want to do this ASAP. I can’t wait. I only wish I still live in downtown St. Pete, instead of north St. Pete.

Dual Tuner Tivo

25 04 2006

tivodual
Finally TiVo has released a stand-alone dual tuner model. I had a dual tuner DirecTivo back in 2000-1. Seems almost unnecessarily long between upgrades. An 80 hour TiVo will cost $99 after a $150 rebate. A model with 180 hours will be released sometime in May for around $199 after rebate.

Too bad I don’t even use one of the two TiVo’s I currently have.
