16 Mar 06 Dell vs Apple Part 2

WOW quite a reaction to my previous post about a Dell and Apple Core Duo system.

The prices I came up with were from student discounts for each brand.

Last night I was in class and saw someone in my class with the same Dell laptop I was looking at, the E1505. It’s ugly. It looks like every other laptop I’ve ever seen. The Apple is a work of art and it stands out in a crowd. I am not typically the type to blend in. “Think Different”

After seeing everyone’s presentations last night, I realized how amazing Keynote really is. I simply love wow’ing people with the transitions and slides on Keynote.

I think I worked out a way to get the MacBook Pro, but drop the price about $500. I can get the 1.83Ghz Core Duo, with 512 ram (to be upgraded aftermarket), and the 80 gig HD. In an additional effort to get the price down, I can use my free airline miles to fly to Oregon (or any other tax free state) and not have to pay for tax on the laptop.

I could get the 1.83Ghz Apple for $1799. I think that the integration with my mini, and based on how much i loved my iBook, I am going to go with the Apple. Sure it is still a price swing up for the same components, but the Apple is still my favorite computer. Plus it helps that I’ve been complimented by women a number of times about my iBook ;-) .

So don’t fear, I’m not defecting, I was just trying to struggle with a financial decision.

You’re kidding, right? If you can wait for till fall. Wait for Vista. Especially if you’re thinking of doing a podcast. Seriously. I’d wait if I were you.

Copies of Windows Vista are readily available. Macs suck ass, by the way. “What’s a Intel doing in a Mac?) I’ll tell you. SHIT. Macs are always f-ing 15 years behind, whether it is security patches or even processors. My 2 year old Sony Vaio kicks the crap out of a “MacBook Pro.” If your going to buy a Mac, don’t “Think Different” and buy the same shit for less. Nick, you don’t need any more “accents” to set you apart.

Ahhh nick, it doesn’t matter how fancy your computer is, if eHarmony can’t match you, i doubt cupid will be able to either. :)

PS: They compliment you, becuase iBooks are a good sign your NOT a starving college student.
