Google buys Writetly

Nick Starr | March 9, 2006

Today Google bought Writetly the web based document editor. They have closed down new registrations until the switch to Google is complete. This is going to be a great tool for the Google Net. CL2, Google’s calendar and now a Word type program for free….Look out Microsoft Office.

Also, this integrates PERFECTLY with the rumored G-Drive. You can save your word docs right to your G-Drive with one button and have them accessable anywhere. Now that is going to be slick.

Gmail Drive isn’t rumor. As a matter of fact, it had been out for quite a while before Google blocked the tool. So now, AFAIK there is no longer a working verson of this. If you know otherwise, I would appreciate a link to an updated version. Fanks.
