03 Oct 05 Okay so NYC was crappy/great

So I was going up to NY to meetup with Dawn and Drew at a listener event. So let me start from the beginning.

I got there ahead of schedule…

but when i got there i called up SuperShuttle which I made reservations with. They said 20 minutes…err not what I wanted to hear. I went outside and asked a cabbie ..he said $50…wowzers

okay so i wait for about 30 minutes…nothing…not a single supershuttle at all

i go back and call and they said that my registration wasn’t done correctly when i called 30 minutes ago so wait another 10 minutes….

sigh

okay so another half hour goes by and these cabs are looking mighty okay..or the subway which i am told is about the same timewise….

well i am like if a super shuttle doesn’t come in 1 minute i am leaving on a cab

one shows up..but it isn’t mine

few minutes later another but it isn’t mine

then a 3rd …isn’t mine either but she can take me there…SWEET… oh wait..not so sweet when we spend the next 45 minutes going to every other terminal and picking up enough people to over fill the van.

so then 2 hours after i get there…i finally leave the airport property. sigh. I was SOOO UPSET…almost on the virge of tears.

okay so the traffic is worse than boston…just getting to the city..then she goes up from the top and works her way down…i’m all the way down…

so eventually after we pass all these shops on 5th Avenue…i knew it was 5th avenue b/c i saw Saks 5th avenue…

well she stops and i am who knows where to let someone off…i jump out and give her $20 bucks and say i will find my way the rest of the way and jump in a cab

now Dawn and Drew were at the apple store over an hour ago…but i still wanted to go…well i hop in the cab…he drives freaking amazingly…weaving and swerving..awesome..right thru times square so i lean my camera out and snap some shots.

takes me to to soho area and i get out…eventually find the apple store after about 20 minutes and run into the hottie who worked at the iMall one….talk with her for like 20 minutes…look at my watch and it is 7:45 and the circus starts at 8…hop in a cab and fly over there and make it just at 8…

SIMPLY AMAZING SHOW! it was not a real “freak show” but more of a dark circus kind of thing….amazing…the music awesome, the gymnastic ability of the people …flawless… the juggling…priceless for everything else there’s mastercard.

so we leave after the show with the cast and go to an indian resturant and i get chickpeas with rice patties a freaking heaping bowl full for $1.50…sweet

goto the bar hang out with people drink it up…i buy some girl a drink she turns to be in TV and worked on the Tony Danza show, but was out of work currently. I SHOULD of bought One Trick Pony a drink…she totally has amazing hair… “Hair approved by Nick Starr.”

we chat it up till 1:30 and they decide to goto see a friend play at this piano bar…we go there and i am freaking out b/c i have no freaking idea how to get to the subway now..some girl gives me directions and then buys me a drink (WTF, a girl has never bought me a drink)…

oh yeah….we get in and it is a tiny bar…but lots of guys..A GAY BAR! sigh. there goes my political future…oh speaking of which ..one of the people with us was from St. Pete Beach…he was up on business and heard about the meetup and came out….

well at 3 i leave via cab for the penn station .. a cop shows me where to go to catch the subway …i ride that till one stop and get on the AirTrain to the airport…delta’s desk wasn’t open yet at 4am when i got there…so i slept on the floor for a bit and boarded the plane to ATL and don’t remember a wink of that b/c i was asleep…got to ATL had a Cinnabun and some Sbux carmel apple cider….

flew into tampa and went to work…

all in 24 hours.
