25 Sep 05 Wordpress.com – I GOT AN INVITE!

If you didn’t know, I use Wordpress as my blogging software and cannot imagine life without it. It is at the heart of every single blog I currently run.

Okay let me explain a sec…Wordpress.org has blogging software that you put on your own hosted server for your site…100% customizible, and open source.

Wordpress.com is simply like Blogger.com is. You get a site at a Wordpress.com subdomain that THEY host.

So not minutes ago when I got my “Golden Ticket” from Wordpress.com.

The email read:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away you entered your email address on http://wordpress.com/ to get a blog.

We’re now inviting small groups to use WordPress.com and your email address was selected today!

While you’re on a string of good luck it might be a good day to buy a lottery ticket.

I like it. It is the pefect blogging tool for personal bloggers. I have been reminded that it is an alpha beta release, and nothing is set in stone.

Please go check out my blog over there where I am writing on the experience and features they offer.

All in all it isn’t nearly as customizable as a regular WordPress blog, mainly the themes…you cannot customize from the 8 default they have. I’m sure that will be a feature to come.

I would LOVE to allow everyone to see the system, I cannot. I DO have 1 invite to give out. I cannot decide if I will eBay it or give it to someone. I am open to suggestions if someone is going to use it and make sure to leave feedback with WordPress for Photo Matt and the team over there.

I do once again want to say thank you (WP) for the invite, I will be sure to keep everyone up to date on additions and new features they offer.
