Oh man...first thing I see when I got to Starbucks is that they had no
power....WHAT?!!? Yikes... It had JUST came back on when I walked in
the door. They said it would be about 10 minutes before they can make
drinks.
Well, I've gotta make this a half lunch post today because I have a pressing phone call that I must take today at 12:30.
So, let's get into things. Yesteday I went to my parents and rode the
wave runners. I left there to go to Barnes and Noble (with no wifi) and
then to Borders with crappy wifi with Steph and her friend. We hung out
till they closed and I went on my way home. This is where the adventure
starts.
I am not more than 3 blocks from Borders and I see a woman in a blue
Jetta with a Bud Light in a 12 ounce bottle in her hand, and she is
drinking from it. Well this is an illegal act in Florida, not only does
she have an open container, but she is driving under (some) influence
of alcohol. What do I do? Call 911 of course.

I am on the phone with 911 and following the woman. We drive for a good
8 - 10 minutes and I'm on the phone with 911 the entire time. She
eventually stops at her destination. Mind you, everything I am saying
is being recorded by 911. I inform her, "You are in comission of a
felony. The police are on the way." Knowing she is busted, she sits in
her car for about another 8-10 minutes. She seems to be frantically
making phone calls.
After the 10 minutes, a barely dressed man comes out and tells her to
come inside. He asks if I am a police officer and (while still on the
phone with 911), I do not answer him. I asked 911 if I could place her
under citizens arrest, and she came back with an answer in the negative
from her supervisor.

She goes inside with this man...and TAKES HER BUD LIGHT WITH HER!! 911
informs me that an officer will be there shortly and I wait. I call up
a few friends to see what they would do. About another 8-10
minutes go by and a police officer arrives....Now keep in mind the time
frame. 8-10 minute drive to her place, 8-10 minutes of her waiting in
her car, and 8-10 minutes later a police officer FINALLY arives.
UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I inform the officer of the situation and he takes WAAAY too long
explaining to me the logicstics of the situation and that an open
container is only a "civil infraction" simliar to a running a stop
light (moving violation). The fact that I am an eye witness to the
incident doesn't seem to effect him.
He informs me, that had a police officer seen the incident, then it
would be a different matter; however, he didn't and therefore can't do
much of anything but speak with her. He finally goes to the door and
the guy opens the door. The officer asks if he can speak with the girl.
The guy asks the girl if he wants to talk to her, she declines. He
basically walks back over to me.
NOTHING WAS DONE!!!
Well, he sits and explains to me more and more about how his hands are
tied, as that she is in the privacy of her own home, and she wasn't
obligated to speak to the officer, even though she had comitted one, if
not multiple crimes.
(sorry I had my phone call. It lasted 12 minutes 38 seconds..that is a good sign)
Sorry for the interruption. Okay well here is the details about the incident.

I don't really have much time to get into anything else...other than
the podcast site is looking very nice. The colors scheme needs a bit of
tweaking, but it is very nice. Oh, and I am totally lovin' Wordpress.
There are like 1000000000 plugins avaliable for it. I thinking of
well...don't want to jump to conclusions, but all I can say is that I
REALLY like it. Look for more details soon.
Until later....buh bye (and sorry I didn't get out everything I wanted to on today's Starrbux post)
