A Google approach to math.

On the eve of Gmail's one-year birthday, our engineers were toiling away furiously. Notes scribbled all over the walls. Complex calculations on napkins and empty pizza boxes. Millions of M&Ms.

The result?... starting today, we're beginning the roll-out of our new and top secret Infinity+1 storage plan. The key features are:

  • Write, don't worry.
You want to stop caring about storage. We want to keep giving you more. Today, and beyond.

  • The gift that keeps on giving.
1404.460722 (this number keeps going up and up) megabytes of storage (and counting) for every user.

  • No complicated equations. No tough algorithms.
    Just this one graph:

Gmail turns 1 today. And we've always loved a good joke. We know we won't reach infinity, but check out what we will do ...

...geez what a day for news stories...this one is fricken awesome....I hope it's true.

Story

Google is all over the news today...they introduced Google Gulp beta...poking fun at themselves...

Google gulp!

Beta Carroty Glutamate Grape Sugar-Free Radical Sero-Tonic Water
...and of course Google Gulp is by invitation only! HAHA

Update: This was posted on the Google Blog:
Granted, for an online search company a beverage line constitutes a bit of a departure. But at Google we try never to lose our focus on the user, and this year we got to thinking that the one thing missing from the perfect web-surfing experience was a cool, refreshing smart drink.

Cheers,

The Google Gulp Team

Thanks to MSMobiles.com for the update...this is how Google did the 1 gig updated...

"Now Google gave 1GB more, so if you used say 444 MB by now, then you get in total 1,444 MB and again 1GB free."

This is an April Fools story I'm sure...although I wish it wasn't...

Story

Appleinsider is reporting that Tiger has gone golden master, which means that the latest build is ready for duplication at the magic CD-burning plant. This is in line with previous rumors on Final Candidate releases and Amazon offering Tiger for pre-order.

So what day will it be released, MacSlash? April 22? May something? Place your bets. The 10.3.9 update will only serve to tease us; Tiger is almost within our sweaty hands.

Okay I saw this story...checked my google Gmail account....trying to see if it was an April fool gag...and my Gmail space is: You are currently using 293 MB (22%) of your 1344 MB.

Wierd...well check out the story from MacMinute.

The Word of the Day is: mourning

It is very tragic and sad all of the things that have happened to Terri Schiavo. We pray today that she is in peace and glad she has moved onto a better place.

Yeah the WOTD should be something funny or what not b/c of April Fools day....but who cares.

I am trying to figure out if I want to go to this blogging confrence in Nashville at the beginning of May. It is pretty cheap to attend (FREE) and the plane ticket round trip is only $115.

I'm not sure how professional they are wanting to get with all of the seminars. I would enjoy a number of the seminars I would think...but not sure if it is the right enviroment....anyone else going to BlogNashville? It is limited to 300 people and from the schedule I have seen the main events are on Saturday. I would fly up after work on Friday and come back Sunday night. Think I should go?
