Nick Starr.com: Pioneer Square in Portland Oregon

 Thursday, December 16, 2004

Well after walking all over downtown...I finally found the place... The sound guy here is using a 20" iMac. That's cool. Well this place is basically just a bar with a dance floor. Guess I should get something to drink.

Not seeing any Dusty chicks although there are some attractive girls around here.

So let me explain the culture shock here or rather sticker shock... $5 to get in if you bring a toy...I did (a $10 toy)...otherwise $10 to get in.

$2 to check your coat..and your supposed to tip that person too...

About to go and see how much the drinks are.

Oh well this is what I cam up here for...I am going to do everything in my power to enjoy myself. As many of you know I'm not the most avid fan of clubs...

Apparently there is going to be a few bands playing.

So the question now lies in...do I go out and make a crazy fool of myself by striking up conversations with people I typically wouldn't ...I mean I will NEVER see any of these people again. Or...do I as I'm sure that I will probably do...chicken out and just sit around in the corner like I am now....

Did I ever mention I'm a loser???

About to deplane....I will write more in a bit ....

I'm listening to the Daily Source Code and Adam is talking more about OPML. We really need to get a method of including show notes with the mp3 file. I am more than willing to help out in any fashion with opml. I love what this programming can do. I simply love that you can have an unlimited number of nodes that you can link to that have an unlimited amount of information that you don't even have to maintain yourself. Thus creating a huge directory that is essentially limitless.....enough geek stuff.

The woman next to me on the flight is reading one of my all time favorite books, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. She is only about 100 pages in but said she can't put it down. Another egoist in the making. lol.

In the airport I shut off about 5 tv's with my tvbgone. That little toy is so much fun. I hope that no one at the Detroit airport is reading this.

Did I mention that my gate was changed like three times here in Detroit? Oh geez, we got off at gate A10 and eventually I had to go to gate A74...the FURTHEST gate away.

Got a few good emails from some friends and family. Chris, when I get back we'll have to go to 'Bees.... And Grandma Across The Bridge, I love you and am glad you are having a good holiday season thusfar.

I have noticed that all of the Flickr pics I have been posting to the Blogging In site...I will have to edit the source when I'm at a real computer. Sorry about that. So, check this site later with posts you may of missed.

Time to turn off all electronics...cya in Boston!!!

"Flight

Well I'm on an hour wait...time to listen to some more Daily Source Code
with Adam Curry...

"Tv-B-Gone

So, Im in the airport and I am loving my tvbgone and turning off tv's in
various stores...but the one has fox news on....and I just couldn't
bring myself to turn it off

Well the flight so far has been smooth sailing. We are nearing our decent into Detroit, Michigan. One amazing thing that you NEVER see in Florida is the snow capped mountains. The site is amazing. So beautiful...I guess that is something we sorely miss out on in Florida.

I mentioned earlier that my name was in the NY Times today. If you can't ger your hands on a copy, go to http://www.spreadfirefox.com and you can download the pdf image. Caution it is quite a large file. The reason for my name being listed is that I contributed to their fund to pay for the two full page ad. If you are still using Internet Explorer then you are subject to spyware, and other malware and it is probably on your system right now. Download the free copy of Firefox today at http://www.mozilla.org . They are a non-profit organization that simply believes in making the best experience for their users.

Enough about the techie stuff... Lol whoops gotta turn off all electronic devices...cya on the ground.

"Inside

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away......

"The

Gotta have Starbucks, a copy of the New York Times with your name in it
(in the Firefox ad), and your boarding pass. Who could as for anything
more?

By the way I did get my boarding pass but the self check-in wasn't
working and I was not on the roll that they had for today's
flights....but got my ticket now....flying out in 45 minutes

I know I try to not repeat...but since I will be WITH these girls tonight....might as well post their pic again...

The Word of the Day for December 16, 2004 is: GPRS

This word is chosen mainly because that is what my phone needs in order to connect to the inkernet, send emails, and get on aim. Well, I can't very well moblog if I can't send emails...so hopefully something happens soon here otherwise my entire Blogging in Boston idea is down the crapper.
